The Beauty of Prayer

Is there anything more beautiful than prayer?

I love to pray. Who doesn’t? It’s in prayer that we’re able to talk to God. We’re able to express our hearts to him. Whenever I’m struggling, nervous, doubting, excited, grateful, literally insert any emotion here, I run to our Lord in prayer to express to him whatever is on my heart. Sometimes my prayer time is spent crying, sometimes it’s spent in pure gratitude. However it’s spent, I am able to end my prayer time filled with a peace that you can’t find anywhere else.

There are 3 verses I love about prayer:

“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” Mark 11:24
“Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” Philippians 6:9
“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

I’ve always loved these verses for several reasons. First, they remind us of the importance of prayer. Prayer is key to our relationship with God. without prayer we can’t build a strong foundation with our Lord. Without prayer we lack the intimate relationship He desires to have with each of us. Second, they emphasize the importance of humility, of gratitude. In all things we must always give thanks to God because He is the one at work in our lives. He is the who blesses us beyond what we could imagine. We have to give him the glory and praise he deserves and thank Him for his love and goodness. Finally, they remind us that God hears our prayers. Even when it seems like he’s not listening, he is. He hears our cries. He is sitting right next to you as you pray. And in his perfect timing, he will answer your prayers.

Go to the Lord. Seek him. Spend time with him in prayer. Don’t be afraid to ask for things from him with humility and be grateful for the blessings he will bestow upon you. Have faith that he hears you and he will answer you. We have an amazing God who loves us beyond what we can comprehend. Pray, gives thanks to our great God, and have faith that he is listening and you will see how he responds.
