Is there a better way to start the New Year than by honoring the Blessed Mother on her feast of Mary, the Mother of God? What a perfect way to start a new year. It gives us the opportunity to seek Jesus this new year through his mother, our mother. She guides us to her son throughout everything we may face this coming year, both the good and the bad. By growing closer to the Virgin Mary we are in turn growing closer to Jesus. I have always thought that it’s beautiful that for us to love Jesus more perfectly and get to know him better, we have to love those who he loved and get to know them as well. By honoring Mary we are honoring and loving her son.
This year, let us hold Jesus in our hearts just as Mary held him in her arms. Let us have blind faith in Him, just as Mary did when she gave her life-changing fiat. Let us find comfort and strength in the embrace of both our Blessed Mother and her son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Happy New Year to you all! May it be filled with blessings and the love and presence of of our Lord.
