“Thank you, every woman, for the simple fact of being a woman! Through the insight which is so much a part of your womanhood you enrich the world’s understanding and help to make human relations more honest and authentic…For in giving themselves to others each day women fulfill their deepest vocation. Perhaps more than men, women acknowledge the person, because they see persons with their hearts.” St John Paul II, Letter to Women
How many times have you heard “Is must be so easy to be a guy! It’s so hard being a woman!” I’ll admit that I have said this myself. Being a woman can be hard. We have to put make-up on (well, we don’t have to but most women do), do our hair, shave, go through the pain that comes with a menstrual cycle and, of course, the pain of childbirth. I think it’s a fair statement to say that it’s not easy being a woman!
However, what if we flipped this perspective? What if instead of looking at these things that so many of us see as negatives, we see them as positives? And some of these things, even as blessings.
We don’t have to to put on make-up, but it can be fun! It’s really nice sometimes to get all dressed up. Whether it be for your husband or even just for yourself, it’s a great way to feel better at times. I personally love getting all dressed up, curling my hair, and putting make-up on because that’s how I express my femininity and honestly, it makes me feel good.
While the pain that comes from your menstrual cycle can be awful at times, it’s a blessing because we’re able to bring life into the world because of the fact that we have a menstrual cycle. This is one of the most, if not the most, beautiful parts of being a woman – experiencing pregnancy and childbirth. Though I haven’t experienced it myself yet, just being around pregnant women you can see a grace that surrounds them.
So women, embrace what at times seems like the struggles of being a woman and see them as a blessing. See them as that’s what makes us who we are. We’ve been given a gift to be able to express our femininity in so many ways and also express the nurturing heart God blessed us with through motherhood. Being a woman is incredibly beautiful.
